Improving health outcomes through immunization services

Decades of Global Immunization Leadership

As global leaders in immunization and vaccine introduction, we build resilient systems that provide consistent coverage while expertly managing the rollout and integration of new vaccines. We strengthen immunization within health systems to anticipate needs and reach every community.

“Strengthening immunization service experience requires person-centered care, necessitating capacity and workplace investments. The investment is focused on addressing barriers to care, but these barriers are not unique to immunization.”

Our Partnership Approach

We shape global immunization policies and strategies and implement alongside partners so that people of all ages can access vaccines and live longer, healthier lives.

Better Health Outcomes

Drawing on our experience in over 50 countries, we use behavioral science to deepen trust, improve person-centered service experience, and increase vaccine demand.
Expanding Immunization Access in Haiti

JSI partnered with Haiti’s Ministry of Public Health and Population to improve vaccination coverage by addressing the practical barriers families face. By implementing catch-up and weekend immunization sessions beyond standard clinic hours, we have reached zero-dose and under-vaccinated infants living in urban and remote or logistically difficult geographical areas. Out of a total target population of 12,993 children in JSI-supported municipalities, we reached 10,518 with Penta 1 and 9,950 with Penta 3 (a proxy for routine coverage in the first year of life) despite security challenges.

Supporting Country Vaccine Prioritization and Optimization for Disease Prevention

JSI supports ministries of health in selecting, introducing, and optimizing vaccines to ensure immunization programs remain responsive to evolving country needs. We have assisted more than 30 countries in developing and submitting over 100 Gavi vaccine applications for vaccine introductions and switches across more than eight diseases. In the last 15 years, we have supported over 20 countries in Africa and Asia to prioritize and optimize vaccine introductions and product and schedule switches, including four prioritization workshops in 2023–2025.

Working Towards Cervical Cancer-Free Futures Globally

With support from the Gates Foundation, JSI leads the HPV Vaccine Acceleration Program Partners Initiative (HAPPI) Consortium. Through technical assistance and implementation research, the consortium has supported over 20 countries with HPV vaccine introduction, product switches, and program improvements, contributing to protection for over 34.1 million girls from cervical cancer. As one of Gavi’s first technical assistance providers for HPV vaccine rollout, we have supported the successful submissions of over 46% of all applications to Gavi for HPV vaccine TA since 2023, 25% of the HPV vaccine new introductions, and 45% of the multi-age cohort campaigns, helping Gavi reach its goal of 86 million girls vaccinated ahead of schedule.
