JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) is dedicated to improving lives through better health and education outcomes for individuals and communities and to providing an environment where people of passion can pursue this cause.
As a global organization, we have designed, delivered, and scaled programs in over 50 countries worldwide. In the U.S., we’ve worked in all 50 states in evaluation, training and technical assistance, policy, and strategy. We partner with government agencies, the private sector, and community organizations to design pragmatic strategies and deliver enduring solutions.
We believe that all people should have what they need to live their healthiest lives and reach their full potential.
JSI, originally John Snow, Inc., has been improving health and education outcomes since 1978. JSI’s technical scope expanded to include education and behavioral sciences following our 2023 merger with long-time partner organizations World Education, Inc. and The Manoff Group. These mergers broadened our capacity to improve systems—and therefore lives—in measurable ways in the United States and around the world.
Today, JSI’s global family includes four affiliate organizations: The Partnership for Supply Chain Management (PFSCM), John Snow India Private Limited (JSIPL), inSupply Health (inSupply), and Coalition Health Zambia (CHZ). Each affiliate brings their unique technical and geographical expertise to provide comprehensive, tailored, and locally driven solutions across a range of services. Whenever possible, we work alongside our affiliate organizations to leverage our collective knowledge to scale innovation and improve services.
JSI’s name honors Dr. John Snow, a pioneer of modern epidemiology known for his groundbreaking work to map a cholera outbreak in nineteenth-century London. By meticulously tracing infections and engaging with the community, Dr. Snow pinpointed a contaminated water pump as a primary source of the outbreak, long before the widespread acceptance of germ theory. We apply his spirit of inquiry to today’s challenges, using data-driven strategies and community insights to work towards better health and education outcomes for all.
