Our Partnership Approach

We partner with clients and communities to ask the right questions and uncover underlying connections, equipping people with the tools and information needed to improve program quality and outcomes.

Strengthening Service Delivery and Informing Policy

Our approach emphasizes data-driven insights to demonstrate program impact and make adjustments as contexts or needs change. We adapt information to different audiences so they can understand and use findings to strengthen service delivery and inform policy.
Using Better Data for Better Service Use in Ethiopia

Through the Data Use Partnership project, JSI works with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health and local universities to drive research and policy by producing vital evidence on how well-functioning health information systems can improve primary health care. The partnership has resulted in an increase in health data reporting from as low as 21% per region to an average 91%. Increased evidence use has informed programming that has resulted in a 36% increase in full immunization access among children and a 25% increase in modern contraception use.

Saving Lives with AI-Powered Malaria Tests in Ethiopia

Through a partnership with the Gates Foundation, JSI collaborated with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health to embed and test an AI-powered reader for malaria rapid diagnostic tests (mRDTs) into the electronic community health information system platform. By identifying the deadliest malaria species with 100% accuracy and flagging manufacturing faults in 30% of test kits, the solution provided a critical real-time quality safeguard for frontline diagnosis. This technology increased correct antimalarial prescriptions by 10% and confirmed that 30% of febrile cases were malaria-negative, effectively curbing medicine over-prescription.

Modernizing HIV Care through Telehealth Strategies

JSI partnered with five Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program sites to implement telehealth coordination strategies to improve linkage to care, retention, and viral suppression for people with HIV. We identified effective models that increase access and reduce systemic barriers to HIV care. Patients who missed initial care benchmarks showed significant health improvements at three-, six-, and nine-month intervals. 93% of participants reported high satisfaction, and 92% plan to continue using telehealth services. This initiative confirms that targeted telehealth coordination enhances the patient experience and maximizes outcomes in HIV care settings.
