Applying High-Impact Solutions to Strengthen Health Systems

We test and validate new service models and innovative tools for public health professionals and frontline providers. We help move high-impact solutions beyond pilots to strengthen health systems.

Community Focus Through Partnership

JSI works across national and local levels to mobilize the stakeholders and resources needed to strengthen the health workforce and develop actionable recommendations, so care is high-quality and responsive to community needs.
Improving Health Outcomes Amidst Crisis in Yemen

JSI partnered with the Ministry of Health in Yemen to revitalize health care for women and children during ongoing conflict. By strengthening local capacity and community-based care, the project improved the lives of over 1.8 million people. Strategic social and behavior change initiatives reached 5.7 million individuals with vital health and nutrition information, while solutions like SMS reminders drove a 41% increase in vaccination coverage. These efforts led to a rise in skilled birth attendance from 69% to 93% and significantly increased the uptake of antenatal care and family planning, ensuring life-saving services reached those most in need.

Advancing Best Practices to Improve Maternal Health Outcomes in the U.S.

JSI leads the Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM) Technical Assistance Center, providing expert technical support to multidisciplinary teams in 49 states, D.C., and Puerto Rico. AIM has more than 15 allied partners—including professional organizations, federal agencies, and community groups—that provide the clinical expertise, data, and credibility behind the patient safety bundles. We manage the AIM Data Center to provide a secure, centralized platform for states to track and analyze program, facility, and state-level data to drive quality improvement. Through the saferbirth.org repository and high-engagement training, providers nationwide have the tools needed to implement and sustain these bundles that help make birth safer and improve maternal health outcomes.

Expanding Immunization Access in Haiti

JSI partnered with Haiti’s Ministry of Public Health and Population to improve vaccination coverage by addressing the practical barriers families face. By implementing catch-up and weekend immunization sessions beyond standard clinic hours, we have reached zero-dose and under-vaccinated infants living in urban and remote or logistically difficult geographical areas. Out of a total target population of 12,993 children in JSI-supported municipalities, we reached 10,518 with Penta 1 and 9,950 with Penta 3 (a proxy for routine coverage in the first year of life) despite security challenges.
