Adult education programs in Massachusetts support learners with a broad spectrum of academic, workforce, and life goals, requiring educators to continuously adapt to evolving instructional, technological, and accessibility demands. High-quality, coordinated professional development is critical to helping programs stay responsive and expand opportunities for learners.

For over 30 years, World Education, an initiative of JSI, has led the SABES Program Support Professional Development Center. The initiative supports approximately 900 teachers, advisors, and program directors each year, strengthening program effectiveness, leadership, and instructional quality across the state.

Through the project, World Education coordinates, designs, and delivers professional development and coaching on program management, educational leadership, career pathways, advising, digital literacy, distance education, and accessible ADA resources. Additionally, the project manages a Help Desk that supports over 1000+ learners annually as they navigate technical and educational barriers to enrollment. Partners include the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, local adult education programs, and statewide education and workforce stakeholders working together to support learners in reaching their education and career goals.
